BORN IN KALOCSA

I am Erzsébet Zsombok (Böbe), who dreamed and created La Perla Húngara.

My birthplace is Kalocsa, which is a corner of Hungary whose unique folk art is still a living tradition. I, myself almost learnt to embroider earlier than I learnt to read. My first small tablecloth was created at the age of six by myself. Since then, it has been a source of recreation and relaxation for me when flowers bloom by my hands. Embroidery is an activity that delights the eyes and soul, and sometimes it can be a therapeutic activity too.

I feel that the motif treasure of Kalocsa is a unique value, that be must be known as wide as possible. My works are also to serve this purpose. Kalocsa deserves world fame! – I am sure about that. My ambition is to add something to this.

That's why I make my products with the demand of promoting the traditions of my homeland and my smaller homeland - which can't be compared to anything else - being fashionable and to meet with today's tastes too.

I wish La Perla Húngara to be a fashion brand that customers like, so I only make products that I can totally identify with and that I, myself would happily wear. Every single piece is made by myself, from the first step to the last: all my creations are designed and produced by myself.

Why La Perla Húngara? I have been living and working in Spain for long years, and I wanted the brand name to express my defining connection and cultural background, which is represented by Hungary, and to include my current living space Spain too.
